Erin Morgenstern, Night Circus.

The setting of this book is very interesting and unique--a circus, which is called Le Cirque des Rêves. The overall feelings I get from this book is similar to some other horrible and crazy stories, such as American Horror Story. Le Cirque des Rêves is quite different from most common circus that people experience or imagine. This place has an enchanted charm, which impresses and surprises people by rendering infinite amount of tents and attractions. There is a tent of landscape made entirely from the Ice Garden; a tent of illusionist that performs unforgettable magic; a tent which people can see and admire “dream”. I can’t believe that there are people who will not be allured by the incredibility and splendidness of Le Cirque des Rêves.

The unique writing skill that is utilized in this book is also the reason for its uniqueness. The usage of third person perspective makes readers feel as if they are experiencing the circus. In other words, readers can almost get immersive experience from the reading. Moreover, the author, Morgenstern, is a true master of catching people’s attention and make them stay in the world he created. This book is like a mystery which I desperately want to solve and find the answer. In addition, plot is developed at a slow pace, but there are a lot of details needed to be found, so I have to be patient and alert, or I will miss important information easily.
