This is a novel that gives me a lot of surprises while I am reading it. One key idea of this book is it remind people to step into the shoes of other people, even for people who are so distinct from most people in the world. This is the biggest value of this story in my point of view. The story itself is also very attractive and interesting. The magical system in Akata Witch is so different from most witch stories. It is depicted in so many details that makes it so authentic for me. I feel like the country and people in this book are truly existing in a corner of this world. Magical people in this novel own Juju Knives, instead of wands in other stories. As for Akata Witches, they own leopards, which are magical people, and lambs, which are common people. Surprisingly, leopards can be born of lambs. The protagonist is named Sunny. She is a free agent. It means both of her parents don’t belong to leopards.
